Birthday Suit

Dress// Modcloth
Glasses// Vintage
Shoes// Mizmoo

Hello! As you may know, a few days ago was my birthday and this is what I was sporting, mostly gifties that I got from separate people, that all go together to well, and it's almost freaky haha.
The dress I got from my mom, and the glasses my dad got me in an antique shop in Seattle. The necklace is from Mike, and the color of the topaz matches the dress almost exactly! The style of the glasses and the dress compliment eachother so nicely.
I'd say this is one of my most favorite looks ever, and I'm glad I got to wear on my birthday!
And Happy Friday!

So I thought I'd take a stab at this, sharing all the stuff I saw on the interweb this week that I love!

I love out of the ordinary prints, this is definitely one of them // Modcloth

This record player is adorable, and lets you rip your vinyl stuff to digital!
AHHH I wish I had more monies, haha! //Modcloth

Super awesome Riot Grrrl cross stitchings! // Poor Kitty Crafts
I'm so not normally a fake nails person but I would totally make an exception for these beauts // Meadham Kirchoff

Fall Clothes

Dress// Thrifted
Tights// HUE
Shoes// Vintage via Mom

The other day is was so dank and rainy out, so I decided I would break out the fall clothes, just for one day! Even though Summer IS almost over, revisiting fall/winter clothes feels strange. But I like it when my clothes match the weather.
Stay tuned to see some of my birthday loot from modcloth!

Dress// Anthropologie
Shoes// Kensie

I GOT THIS DRESS FROM ANOTHROPOLOGIE FOR 10 DOLLARS. Sorry, that sentence was worth of all caps, I'm sure you understand. I don't know how or why it was marked down so cheap, and quite frankly I don't wanna know, in case it's something terrible.
It makes me feel like a flowery cake with cleavage.

Anyways, I wore this dress on my 4 year anni with Mike. We ended up going to Hoboken and getting some delicious Mexican food. For me, atleast. Every time we go there I order something delicious and he gets too adventurous ordering things he's never heard of and not really liking it. Oh well, too bad!

Philly Feminist Zinefest!

Yesderday Me And Rhiannon spent the day in Philly for the Feminist Zinefest there! I had such a blast. It reminds me that I should really go to more feminist events and zinefests, because and stop being so shy, because everyone is so incredibly nice and cool. And funny. I laughed alot yesterday, and had a great conversations.
We were only able to spend like 4 hours in Philly, because of the train schedules being weird, which is kid of hilarious, being as I'm coming from Long Island. But it was totally worth it.
I will most likely going back for the (regular) zinefest there, and stay longer than 4 hours, haha!

Yellow and Blue

Dress // Modcloth
Sweater // Andrew Marc
Shoes // Mis Moo
Glasses // Kiss

WooHoo, Happy Monday! I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I'm drinking super amounts of coffee today, I've been very busy lately with my etsy shop, which is awesome :)

I can't remember the last time I wore a hair flower, nor can I remember why I stopped wearing them! I love this  little felt one that i got at the Bust Craftacular last June.
I'm also super in love with the print on this dress, it's a nice break from the usual floral or polka dot.

Hope you're having a good start to your week too, and try not to drink too much coffee like I am!

100th Post!

Dress// F21
Shoes// TUK
Glasses// Kiss

It's my 100th post! this blog has come a very long way since I started it, I'm even thinking of adding a sidebar starting in September (stay tuned on that) ...

I've followed lots and lots of style blogs for a couple of years, always wishing I could exude the confidence to do it. When the new year hit, I just told myself, if I want to do something, I'm not going to hold myself back anymore because of being bashful.

As someone who is so into body positivity, I was disappointed when I would knock myself on my own sometimes negative body image. Running this blog has really helped me out with my self image, which was one of my goals when I started it. Which is awesome.

**EDIT** This was actually my 96th post. Cause I forgot I had 4 drafts that I haven't published yet. Oh well, its now and almost 100th post!

My Beloved Bookcase

I've been meaning to re-arrange my bookcase for a few days now. I want to showcase all of my knick knacks and my awesome taste in literature!

I got this bookcase from Target for like 10 bucks so it's ready to topple any moment. Re-arranging things on it was kinda scary, but I'll buy a new one once it actually gives out, haha!

It's obvious that I am obsessed with glasses! I painted this plate at my old job at the pottery studio.

My ceramic easter egg holder that I now use for my jewelry, along with the cigar box, and a bunch of cranes that my boyfriend made for me.

The middle shelf is my favorite, my scarf skull, some flowers and my copy of Ghost World.

I absolutely love this print. I thrifted the frame and it goes very nicely.

We can't forget my nunzilla wind up toy...when you wind her up she shoots sparks outta her mouth as she walks!
That camera used to be my dad's. I think it still works for I have yet to figure it out, some day!

Bang Makeover

So, I was going to do this last week, but the weather was so dark, meaning no good lighting!

I saw a vintage info graphic on tumblr (can't find the source, surprise, surprise, tumblr) that inspired this bang cutting tutorial. Enjoy!

It's pretty self explanatory, all you need it artist's tape (that's not masking tape I'm using), a comb and shears. Comb your dry bangs, then position a strip of artist's tape straight across, and then cut along the top, the tape providing a nice straight line for you as a guide. I used artist's tape because you can see it (unlike scotch tape) and the adhesive is less harsh than most tapes, so if you need to pull it off the re-position it, your hair won't get pulled out.
I always cut mine very short, because I like to not have to cut my bangs very often. And I kinda wanna look like Jennifer Goodwin in Mona Lisa Smile.

There you have it! Be sure to take your time while butting and double check that you positioned the tape at your desired length. It's easy to miscalculate, I've done it plenty of times!
And my Hairdresser Blues comb from Hunx arrived today! Great timing.

It's So Gloomy!

I was planning on doing a bang cutting tutorial today, but it's too gloomy to take pictures. Don't fret, I'll do it sometime in the near future. It's a shame though cause I'm totally channeling Brittany Murphy in Girl Interrupted today. Here's a crappy webcam picture, yay!

I'm going to go get some work done today (finishing up some new patches for the MGB shop) and then I think I'll go thrifting. A great rainy day activity :)

Fake Diamonds

Dress// Vince Camuto
Shoes// Thrifted
Tights// Legs Avenue
Buttons// Modern Girl Blitz on Etsy

Tonight I'm doing out to DinDin with my parents. I love hanging out with my parents, they are genuinely fun people to be around. I feel so happy that I have such a great relationship with them and I get legit excited when they invite me out to dinner. That's right, I spend my Saturday nights out with the old people, I'm not ashamed!

I decided I would snazz up this somewhat plain (but amazingly fitting) dress with my button and chain idea from this DIY! I think it adds just right amount of quirkiness I'm looking for, with a somewhat dressy outfit. I always need a little touch of that, or else I feel so boring.
