Man, You are in the Bell Jar

Photobucket Photobucket

Top// Out of Print Clothing
Skirt// Thrifted
Boots// Zigi
Glasses// Kiss

You can't really tell because my skirt is high waisted, but this is my Bell Jar cover t-shirt! This company makes shirts out of old classic book covers and it's awesome. The shirts are really comfy too! I wore this yesterday visiting my old job to paint some pottery. I made a ring holder and then help my mom paint a bowl, as usual because she doesn't follow ever follow the instructions, and then messes up and needs help. Oh, mom.

Anyways, today I am FINALLY getting my hair cut! I've been putting it off since October. Same haircut, just shorter. Once it hits my shoulders I know it's way too long for my liking. Then I'm going to Heather Gabel and Matt Skiba's art show Love in a Void at a bar downtown. It should be alot of fun..now I have to decide what to wear!

Bundle Up!

Photobucket Photobucket

Coat// Michael Kors
Faux Fur Vest & Scarf// Target
Boots// Zigi

Holy Hell. I was so not prepared for these temperatures we've been having here in New York. Last year was so mild so I'm not used to it! Wahh! So it didn't really even get to break out this vest I have last year, and I have missed it. Even though I'd much rather it be not 13 degrees out. Oh god, I'm turning into a boring person who talks about the weather all the time. Halp!
But I do love decorating all my coats with my extensive button and brooch collection. I always feel like I'm gipping out my cute outfits in the winter cause all ya see is my coat, when I'm out and about. So I decorate them with thangs! Woo!
OK, I need pizza stat.

This dress is the cutest. It has little foxes on it! I got it over the holidays when I was doing some gift shopping in the city, and of course I always have to get myself a present.

Let me tell you, its weeks like these that I am ever so grateful I work from home. Oh my god. It is like 15 degrees outside. I just hope it warms up once the weekend rolls around. I will hopefully be getting my hair trimmed on Saturday before I go out. And I don't wanna freeze.

Welp, these tote bags aren't gonna print themselves so back to the grind!

Diner Date

Photobucket Photobucket
Dress// F21
Sweater// Andrew Marc
Glasses & Shoes// Thrifted

This is yet another dress I forgot I had. I think I may have a problem. I wore this on a diner date with Mike, which was a great way to break up my work day. I like these glasses, but they're in this weird gray area where the lenses are tinted ever so slightly so they're not really sunglasses but not clear either. But they're cute.

Isn't this the perfect outfit to wear to one of those tiny trailer diners? Theres one in my town that we went to, it's also next door to a used record store. It's kind of the only thing I really love about my hometown, everything else is so *boring* hahaha

Soft Pink

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Dress// F21
Shoes// Steve Madden
Necklace// Vintage via Grandma
Glasses// Kiss

This is one of those dresses that I totally forgot I owned. I bought it like 5 years ago. I wore this over the weekend when I went shopping with my best friend, then to her house to hang out with her 15 pound cat. Big kitty.
Anyways, being as this dress is from Forever 21 I gotta say something. I have trouble keeping my mouth shut about things like these- I recently saw a post floating around on tumblr about how Forever 21 stole someones drawing (a fellow etsy seller like me) and put the drawing on a t-shirt without  credit or anything. The fact that big companies like Forever 21 steal the work of independent artists almost makes me sick to my stomach, it's just so terrible. Especially being as it hits so close to home, because that could have easily happened to me. If a huge company stole my work to put on a shirt I would probably cry for like a week. I've seen people steal my work before, but they were other etsy shops (once somebody just pulled images from tumblr and made buttons out of them..the nerve!), and it's alot easier to get them to take things down/contact etsy lawyers and stuff, but a huge store like Forever21? Ugh. Along with Urban Outfitters, who pulls the same crap, I won't be shopping there anymore, which is a shame because its so cheap and cheerful. Hopefully H&M hasn't or won't pull anything like this, cause I'm running out oh cheap places to get my clothes, haha!
Phew, blogs are awesome for venting frustrations, aren't they? So anyways, for future reference in any outfit posts from now on, if I got something from F21, I will say so, but please keep in mind that its from before this whole situation came to my attention.

Let's Rock

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Top// From my mom's closet..no tag :(
Skirt// Thrifted
Tights// HUE
Black shoes// Target
Red shoes// Liz Claiborne

I'm back rom being sick! Yay! And it's also David Lynch's birthday today, and my entire week of being sick all I did was watch and finish Twin Peaks, so now I'm totally obsessed. I wasn't going to do an outfit post today, but then I came up with this look last minute, so hey why not. I like dressing for occasions, even if it's just a weird film director's birthday. My outfit is inspired by the black lodge/Audrey Horne from Twin Peaks. Not too shabby for putting it together last minute,eh? If only the shirt was zig zag, but oh wells.

Today my boyfraaand is coming over to cook me dinner, so I'm glad i can actually be dressed up like this for a reason, instead of just like going to the mall or something. Maybe I can get him to buy is a cherry pie when we hit up the grocery store, haha!

Anyways, I'm back in full swing and my flu sickness is totally gone, so my little blog hiatus is officially over. Woop woop!

Tweed Queen

Photobucket Photobucket
Dress// Kensie
Shoes// Liz Claibourne
Glasses// Kiss

Ok, so not so much of a tweed queen. In fact this is the only tweed thing I own. I don't dislike it, maybe I don't find much use for things so professional and versatile, being as I work for myself I have a lot of freedom with what I wear. I feel like a lot of office people wear tweed. Not knocking it, just sayin.
I wore this to an annual Family Gathering right before New Years. As you can tell, because my Christmas tree is still up. Doesn't it feel so weird seeing Christmas things right after the season is over? It always feels strange to me, all I can think about now is pink and red hearts and glitter for Valentines.
Glad I had this outfit post to show you, as right now I've been wearing the same pajama shirt (my favorite one, with flamingos wearing glittery sunglasses on it) almost all week. I feel like crap! Trying to stay positive, letting myself sleep as much as I need and getting the important part of my job done, and then relaxing.
Hopefully next week I'll be back in full swing!

Pathetic Sick Day First Post of 2013

Photobucket

Every New Year I come down with the cold from hell. It's true, every January, like on the dot. I hate that my first post of 2013 is announcing that I'm sick as a dog and have been in my Pajamas since Sunday, and that it's 1:40pm and I just managed to drag myself to my desk. So yup, this is my pathetic first post of 2013. Because it's a new year, I have SO MANY new ideas on the horizon. I got a new toy that I'll be using to make a new product for my store (I don't wanna say just yet!) but I know that everyone is gonna love it.
Yesterday I went to CVS in search of the hardcore cough medicine that you need ID to buy, but no luck. Being as I only get this sick once a year, it really hits me. The upside is that I have an amazing excuse to be a lazy TV watching lump.
Because of all the hype surrounding it, and being told by multiple friends that I need to watch it, I've gotten sucked into the phenomenon that is Twin Peaks. And let me tell you, I am totally obsessed. I just started watching it last week, and I only have like 8 episodes left. I think it really lives up to the hype. I mean awesome lumberjack fashion and kooky David Lynch weirdness and a young and hunky Kyle Maclauglan? Count me in. When I'm done watching it I'm totally gonna have to make some Log Lady buttons. I love log lady.
So even though I have my dream job, I'm going to milk this cold for all its worth and cuddle up in my arm chair and partake in my latest obsession. And it's kinda awesome. I'm really good at looking on the bright side of things. I do have outfit pictures from right before new years that I have yet to post, so I will soon. So that's something.
