I love hanging out in my room on sunny days like this. The room is just so bright and cheery with a nice breeze and some sunlight. Bright and cheery room = bright and cheery outfit!

Nothing too much new to report here...I've been enjoying my summer and doing alot of relaxing. I am making a lot of progress on an art pice I'm doing for the an art show called Busting out being hosted by some of my friends. It's on August 10th, the the date is creeping up on me and I gotta wrap it up soon. But I have all my ideas planned out so I'm not too stressed about it. I guess I should work some more on that now!

Montauk Part 1

I got some of my film developed! I still have some rolls waiting to be used up, but here's what we have so far! These pictures are making me miss my trip so much... photo IMG_20130729_0001_zps4d8c127b.jpg

 photo mike_tiki_zps60c37b54.jpg
This tiki man used to painted all primary colors and looked way cooler. I guess they were trying to class it up by painting it gold? Which seemed strange to me. But I still need pictures in front of it, it's a tradition.
 photo scavenging_zps8b352058.jpg photo holding_zps5a2cf9bb.jpg
We had bonfires twice. We both bought and scavenged for used wood/drift wood (we, meaning, Mike, I sat and read my book)

 photo flashfire_zps28322e87.jpg photo firrre_zps7248e6f5.jpg
Our fires were pretty massive. We had a lot of people passing by complimenting it. The first time this dude who seemed out of his mind on something came by to be like "WOAH NICE FIRE!" Which then quickly escalated into him trying to convince us that mermaids are real because of evolution and if it's on the discovery channel it has to be true, and then his friend began singing the them song to The Little Mermaid in it's entirety without pause. It was...weird. They left after like 15 minutes. Worth the story, in my opinion.

 photo lol_zps5e0108fb.jpg
Speaking of weird, I had no idea Mike was making this lovely face when I snapped this picture. Neither of us knew why this face came about, but I'm sure I got it on film. I seriously cannot stop laughing at this!

Thats all for now, more soon!

I don't think I've ever disclosed on here about my first tattoo! It's the scissors behind my ear in the third picture.  It's not a Van Gough thing, but that's what I say to people that ask in the grocery line and I don't feel like talking. I do have a friend who, by coincidence alone, also has scissors behind her ear, and her's is actually a Van Gough reference, haha. I just have a thing for scissors, I think they're cool, especially as a crafty lady. But this one needs some major touching up, it's 6 years old, which is nuts to think about. For my upcoming 25th birthday I think I'm going to treat myself for my first big tattoo since the one on my chest, and its gonna be on my arm. I feel funny about arm tattoos, only because I just love them so much and its such prime real estate for tattoos. So I wanted to think long and hard what I wanted, and I've finally come up with something. But I ain't telling! You'll just have to wait and see :)

I recently thrifted this skirt, the same trip when I found the maxi dress a few posts back. You could tell it was made a while ago, but it still had tags on it. It's so satisfying when thrifted things still have tags on them, but you can still tell they're vintage. Best of both worlds. Style, without the stains! Hah!

Alright, I'm off to work. And then I'm going to try not to watch the 7 episodes I have left of Orange is the New Black in one sitting. (WATCH THAT SHOW!)

I'm totally loving this necklace from Uncommon Goods. I even coordinated my manicure to match it, haha! I love the whole pennant thing thats super trendy now and this reminded me of that. And it's ceramic, which is something different for jewelry. I also rarely wear long necklaces, but I think with the right outfit it can be a total win. I'm a fan!

It's something different for me, but I've been trying to do that lately, trying things I wouldn't normally wear and ending up loving them! Where's the fun if you don't try out some new things? It's good to take risks and learn more about your personal style, and fun of course :) The site definitely has some statement pieces that are great if you're looking to take a bit of a risk with your accessories. They also have some cool home and decor stuff that I gotta check out, especially with a big move approaching me sooner and sooner.

I gotta thank my Dad, Bob, for planting such an awesome garden, all my outdoor photos are so pretty cause of it! Hope you had a great Tuesday :)

Carefree Beach Attire

 photo PhotoJul18120136PM_zpsbf5cd298.jpg

I'm back from vacation! Literally, like JUST got home. As you may know, I took most of my pictures using my film cameras. I have a few that I took with my iPhone though, this outfit being one of them.

I bought this Rosie the Riveter shirt in a little vintage shop on Montauk's main strip. I don't think this shirt is vintage vintage but I still needed it. I packed a whole bunch of outfits with me, planning them out in my head, but once you get in that relaxed beach town mindset, planning outfits and thinking about things like that kinda go by the way side, and you just wanna relax and have fun. So, a lot of my looks were kind of laid back and easy breezy.

Have you ever seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? Remember the diner with the panoramic windows? That's where I'm standing outside in this photo. They recently turned that diner into a trendy Mexican restaurant that has some awesome branding, with lots of turquoise and a palm tree logo. And some great veggie tacos.
I'm going to get some rolls on film developed tomorrow, and I'll share more about my trip when I post those :)

I have a lot to catch up on over here, later!

Cheers,
Midge

This is the very first time I've ever worn a "maxi" dress. EVER. I'll be honest they're kinda not my thing. I'm a mini skirt girl. If it's above the knee, it's for me. But last week I saw this print in the thrift store and I needed it in my life. I love the colors (mad trippy maaaan) and the retro 70's pattern. And lilies are one of my favorite flowers. It also really too big on me, but i was able to fold over the excess fabric in the back and secure it with some bobby pins. Problem solved. I got another one thats the exact same dress but it's this weird orange tree print. I'll share that with you on a later date. All in all I had a great thrift shop day when I found this dress. (I also found a red pleated mini skirt that still had the tags on it..I think it was meant to be part of a cheerleading uniform from back in the day and it's amazing)
I packed this monster of a dress to bring with me on vacation and I'm sure it's serving me quite well by the time this posts.

Gratuitous Doggie Pictures

Ok, I've become one of those people who makes whole blog posts about their pets. But now I can understand why. Pets rule. This is London. But I just usually call him "my little baby". Ha. photo IMG_3846_zps65a39078.jpg
Funny part is that London TECHNICALLY isn't even mine. He's my brothers. But he works off hours and goes away a lot so we get to watch the doggie for prolonged amounts of time and now he's a part of the family.

 photo IMG_3861_zps3b8a0cc6.jpg
My mom says he has the perfect profile, and I would have to agree.

 photo IMG_3833_zps6e8150d1.jpg photo IMG_3825_zps4f157735.jpg
I don't know why, but I think this picture is cute. He's sniffin' a pile of drawings.

This is definately a goofy outfit. Sort of subdued, so I guess subtly goofy. And any goofy outfit wouldn't be complete without my Steve Buscemi ring.
I'm so in love with this dress. I don't own ANY white dresses so I thought I oughta treat myself to one. I have way too many blue dresses, so I should add more variety to my wardrobe. Also, I think it's hilarious that all my accessories are heart shaped, and it wasn't even on purpose. That kinda thing just happens to me, I guess. I bought these glasses once as something stupid to cheer me up once when I was sick. It was February, so the drug store where I was buying my nyquil had all this silly Valentines Day stuff, and I decided I needed these. Then I forgot about them for a while, and recently found them in my drawer. And they make me happy.
It's the little things!

I'll be on the beach.

 photo 312133_2426986239259_475565687_n_zpse61dc6e5.jpg

By the time you're reading this, I'm probably on my way, or already in Montauk enjoying the beginning of my Vacation! Mike and I have been looking forward to this trip for MONTHS and I'm going to soak up every moment of it.
I gave myself a little bit of a challenge. (if you know me, you know I love challenges)
I left my digital canon at home! On purpose. I'm only bringing my lomo fisheye (which I used to take the above), my holga, and another plain old regular film camera that was my mom's in the 90's. No digital, just film for my vacation photos! Except for my iPhone, we can make an exception for the sake of instagram ;)
I'm excited to see how they all come out, and of course share them with you all.

Oh, and don't worry..I have some cool posts scheduled to post automatically during the week, so you won't even notice I'm gone! And psssst.. the coupon code SUMMERLOVIN will get you 15% off your purchase this week in my Etsy Shop. Woooo!

See ya later!

This is my newest thrifted dress. it's a bit big, but I like it. And it's always awesome when you get something from the thrift store with the tags still on it, which this dress did. Granted that tag looked like it was from 1992, but that makes it even better in my book. I just love the summery feel to it. I bought it along with a pair of short overalls, something  kinda always wanted, and they fit perfectly. It was like fate! I can't wait to wear them with my bikini top in Montauk (2 MORE DAYS!) God, I am so ready for a Vacation and to not be indoors all day. Oh man oh man.

Since these photos have been taken I re-bleached my little stripe and it looks sooo much better. It looks actually blonde not almost blonde. Phew!

Quickie Glitter Banner DIY

 photo BANNER-DIY_zps9ce9389c.jpg

This one's pretty easy and quick! I've been meaning to make a pretty pennant-like banner to decorate my studio, so I thought I would share how I made it. It's pretty self explanatory and easy, so I guess it's more of an "idea" rather than a "tutorial".

You'll need:

-glittery scrapbook paper
-twine
-scissors
-hole punch
-any circular object (like a mug or canister) for tracing

Anyway, I used the glittery scrapbook paper they sell at the craft store (not enough time in my day to glitter the paper myself!)
You can make your banner any shape you want, but I wanted mine to be different sizes of scallop shapes. I traced parts of a circular canister to get the perfect half circle. I traced it on the back of the paper with a sharpie, then cut them out. Easy peasy. I made two different sizes just to add some variety to it.

 photo IMG_3770_zpsba3e1501.jpg
('scuse them chipped nails. whoops)

After that, I got my hole punch and cut two holes on each side of the shape. To make sure they all lined up in the same spot, I lined them up on top of each other whole punch the holes, using the previous one as a template.
 photo IMG_3761_zps2f8d8acc.jpg photo IMG_3765_zps6eeb8374.jpg

Then you can just start weaving your string or twine through the holes until, you have a banner long enough for whatever you'll be using it for! Make it as long or short as ya want.

Now that you have a pretty sparkly banner, you can throw a fancy rager for you Ugly Doll, because you're normal. (that escalated quickly) photo IMG_3606_zps5c2df42a.jpg

I got a bit carried away with these photos, but in a good way. I'll share those in another post, because they're kind of hilarious.

Love,
Midge
