Oh, hello!

I snapped this photo the other day when it was kinda sorta snowing out. HOW SWEET ARE THESE LITTLE GUYS? I saw it outside my living room window when I got home the other day and grabbed my camera before I could do anything else. And they stayed like that for a while...I should just add "amateur pigeon photographer" to my resume.
Just thought I'd stop by to share this. Not much else going on here, except for my shop being in it's busy season. So my blog has taken a bit of a backseat, but you know I'll be back soon, and I'm still snapping photos of my day to day things. Like being up to my neck in shipping labels and bubble mailers, haha!
In the meantime, I have a coupon code in the Modern Girl Blitz Shop until Monday!
You can get 20% off if you enter the code CHEERS2014 at checkout, as well as little daily deals that I'm having. Today, buttons are half price, you can check em all out here.

The Illumunati Dress

Well, that was an unexpected mini hiatus! The holidays are amongst us folks, and people be shopping the etsy, so I am a busy bee. For which I am ever so grateful. I've noticed an increase in people appreciating handmade gifts more often nowadays. So I am a happy camper when this time of year hits, this handmade appreciation obviously works in my favor. Hashtag thankful.
I call this dress the illuminati dress because the pattern has these eyes in little triangles all over it. I looooove anything with eyes on it, or a dress with an unexpected print. The shape is great too. And I realized, I have like NO bright red dresses like this. Just in time for the holidays! Woohoo!

I think my creepy doll head ring goes well with the creepiness of the dress, haha. I'm a creep. Happy Monday!

Photo Diary// Dwellings

Working from home, I'm here like a lot. Especially now that it's getting FREAKIN COLD. I like to make my home as visually pleasing as possible, because I see a lot of these walls. This segment is just some pretty things round my home.

I love having a mantle, I can't imagine having a living room without one now...where would Mike put his rock collection?! Look at all of that.
Also, ledges. I find it makes the ceiling look waaaay higher and spacious when you decorate with things high up.
Having a cocktail at my coffee table last sunday night, and some books. Whiskey and books! Woohoo!
My perfume collection. I never realized how much I had til recently. I'm a seasonal perfume wearer too, some of these are for fall, and other are for winter.

Gloomy Vibes

Halloween is over, I know ;) It's a very grey Monday today, so these pictures are very fitting, though I took them last week. Thank glob I'm sitting at my computer in a nice and cozy sweater with some hot coffee right now.
This dress has become my go-to when I don't know what to wear. It's so great having dresses like that. It's nice and simple but still has cute details like the cut out and collar, making it fun to layer with different things.
And OK, I tried the whole "no bangs" thing but I can't do it. My forehead, it's cold. The last time I pulled off not having bangs comfortably I was a baby. Think I'll be getting my hair cut ASAP, haha. I still think the roots look cool though.
I have two pairs of speckled multi color socks like this. It's a nice little added quirk that I really welcome and enjoy, especially with dark looks like this.
Hey, checkout this rock. Also, the Empire State Building and it's buddies. It might be hard to believe, but I still forget that this is a five minute walk from me.  The only mode of transportation I haven't tried yet into the city is the ferry, but I bet the view on the way there is amazing. I gotta try it one of these days.

Photo Diary// Hodge Podge

My studio being a mess when I was moving stuff around to move in my giant bookcase. It's not as pretty as it always seems in pictures, obviously.
A collage I did one sunday morning. I rarely get the change to do collage work like this so it was a lot of fun for me.
A pretty pink building I saw in the lower east side. I was there with my mom and my aunt who was visiting from Florida.
Also in this cooool restaurant called Schillers in the lower east side, they had really cool decor.
My number one art tool: a sharpie. This little guy can take you pretty far creatively. Sometimes the only thing I need!
More candle flame magic! Haha, this happens a lot when I photograph one of my candles when they're buring, this little heart shape pops up! So cute.

Happy Weekend!

Still Fall

I feel like after Halloween fall gets so rushed into Christmas. But for realz it's still fall! My TV obviously disagrees with all the commercials already, but I'm still enjoying my apple cider scented candles and my pumpkin colored clothing. It was 60 degrees and sunny and there were pretty yellow gingko leaves falling when I was in the park yesterday. It was faaaaaabulous. That said, on my way from for shooting these, I had to stop at the drug store for my witch hazel and I impulse bought some white xmas lights for my mantle. They were on sale, and I am weak around sales. haha.

This backpack is totally my everyday backpack. For all the walking around I do, I need a good big bag to carry all my crap, especially when I need to run errands and go to the store. I'm also the type to want my entire life with me in my bag when I go out.

Thought I'd share some peeks into my sketch book with ya today! I want to start posting more of my art/ personal (non shop) art work on here. It's hard as someone who makes a living off their art work to make things without the purpose of selling it, but sometimes that just inevitably happens if something comes out really cool. But I guess it's good that I still draw for fun, not just to sell it in other forms.
I've had a thing for drawing hands lately. I think they're just so fun and versatile and expressive.

And of course I had to add my stamp of this kinda stuff somewhere!

The Screaming Dress

I never thought I'd feel comfortable with (almost) no bangs and inch long roots. But I do! Weird how preferences change so quickly. I pinned my bangs like actually for my weird as hell halloween costume and I kinda liked the feeling if bearing my forehead for literally the first time ever. I lime a little change in the look, and my hair ain't in my face.
Let's talk bout the print of this dress through! I have this rule now, as like, an grown up adult that if a piece isn't screaming BUY ME then I don't buy it. I'm so done with buying things I'm lukewarm or unsure about, seems like such a waste. Needless to say, this dress was indeed screaming at me.

Happy Friday!

Living Room

This isn't a second living room tour, but an outfit post in my living room. But it is due for another tour because it's changed a lot. It's waaay more cozy now, and more lived in. I think when I first moved in I was really afraid of dark colors, especially in my living room, because the windows face another building and light is limited. But now I'm embracing it and it's my cozy lil TV cave. I'll show ya soon!
I thrifted this dress at Housing Works which is one of my new favorite places to go thrift shopping since moving to the city. I think there's a Unique Thrift in Union City but I think it's hard to get to without a car.
Anyway, I bought this dress during that spurt we had in summer where the weather was really fall like and this dress as perfect cause it was lightweight but SLEEVES! Why are so many dresses sleeveless nowadays?

I've broken in the doc martens, they are a joy to wear now. The soles really are bouncy! Puts a lil pep in my step, which is good, cause that's my main mode of transportation.
